Conserving your Dublin Period House 2025 (CIF & Register of Heritage Contractors)

The Irish Georgian Society and Dublin City Council have assembled a team of conservation experts to present a series of talks on the history and significance of Dublin’s period houses and practical advice on their conservation. Attendance at the talks will greatly benefit owners of all periods and types of houses, from the modest Edwardian artisan dwelling to the substantial red-bricks of the Victorian suburbs and the fine townhouses of our Georgian city squares, providing an ‘A to Z’ for their care and conservation.

It is possible to book talks individually ( €15 each) or book for the whole course for a discounted rate (€140). Bookings are made through the Irish Georgian Society’s website

Talk subscribers can choose to attend the talks in person at the IGS’s City Assembly House, 58 South William Street, Dublin 2 or watch the talks remotely by joining on Zoom. The talks take place at 1pm each Tuesday during March, April and May. There will be an opportunity at the end of each talk to ask conservation questions relevant to your period house, either in person or through the live Zoom Q&A chat function. All subscribers will also be sent a link to the recording of the talks, which will be available to watch for a further two-weeks.

The Conserving your Dublin Period House Course is an action of the Dublin City Strategic Heritage Plan 2024-2029 and fulfils Dublin City Council’s conservation policy to provide architectural advice to homeowners. The course will be useful for those considering an application to the Living Cities Initiative, a tax incentive scheme to assist and encourage people to live in the historic inner city areas of Dublin City. www.dublincity.ie/livingcity

These talks will also benefit building professionals and practitioners and are approved for CPD by the Construction Industry Federation, Engineers Ireland, Heritage Contractors, Irish Planning Institute and the Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland.
